Hey, I’m Alexis!

I’m the co-founder of At Health (along with my amazing partner Trent) and mum to our beautiful 6-year old daughter Milly.

I wanted to share my story about how I went from stressed-out Sydney corporate to happy beach-loving business owner and busy mama - and how I’m on a mission to help other mums, students and professionals do exactly that!

Throughout my 20s, I chased the corporate dream, working long hours in a fast-paced Sydney office. At the time, I relished the demands of what I considered to be a ‘glamourous’ lifestyle in the media industry. Fuelled by caffeine and sugary 3pm treats, I somehow juggled multiple deadlines and business needs. My nights were a blur of media events and industry parties where there was more than enough champagne but too few hors d’oeurves to go around. This crazy routine was my life for ten years, and most of the time, it was seriously good fun.

Sadly, my high-stress existence wasn’t doing my body any favours. I didn’t eat properly, was constantly dehydrated and rarely exercised. I was overweight, had bad skin, felt sluggish and my self-esteem was suffering as a result. I prioritised everything - work, socialising and friends - before my health.

Then I met Trent, my (now) partner in life and love, and co-founder of At Health Australia. Life settled down. I moved away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the Sydney social scene to the beautiful, far more relaxed South Coast. I wanted to make the absolute most of my new coastal lifestyle, and knew that started with my own health and wellbeing. With Trent by my side, I started my journey to good health.

First, I started to move. I took up running and began practising yoga. Trent is a keen surfer and quickly had me out on the board, learning to ride the waves. I felt energised for the first time in years, and more motivated than ever to get healthy.

I turned to my eating habits and focused on nourishing my body. After reading ‘Sweet Poison’ by David Gillespie and ‘I Quit Sugar’ by Sarah Wilson, my attitude to eating was completely transformed. Trent and I removed refined sugar from our diet and instead ate a varied, wholesome and well-balanced diet. I lost weight, trimmed and toned. My skin looked better, my hair and nails were stronger and I was far happier within myself.

Good health literally changed my life. My transformation from stressed-out Sydney corporate to happy beach-loving business owner was an incredible journey that has inspired a genuine passion for healthy living. Now, no matter how hard I am working or how many priorities I need to juggle, my health comes first.

Throughout my 30s (and hopefully, for many years thereafter) I’ll be chasing a new dream. That is, to support and encourage others on their journey to good health as the (very proud) co-founder of At Health Australia.
